Hendricks County Holiday Events Guide


It's all about the holiday's in Avon, Plainfield, Danville & Brownsburg! These areas have done plenty of planning and organizing to help make it a festive season!

Starting in Brownsburg, they are putting the Christmas cheer into the only parade around. It is the Christmas Under the Stars parade and festival kicking-off December 3rd at 6:00 pm from Brownsburg town hall. Enjoy the lighting of the Christmas tree and the biggest parade yet with 38 floats that will make there way from Brown Elementary north to Main St. then onto SR 267 past town hall and finishing at Arbuckle Acres. Over to Danville where they have wonderland of holiday fun. Go to Ellis Park and see the magnificent Winterland Holiday Light Show running November 25th-December 24th. Times during the week are Sunday-Thursday 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm, Friday and Saturday 6:00 - 10:00 pm. Santa will have his sleigh here every Friday-Sunday at the times listed. Help out by bringing a bag of canned food items any Wednesday and get in for $3.00. Another big event is Paws and Clause on December 6th and 13th bring your pet for a pet picture with Santa. Danville keeps the fun going, skate the day away with Skate the Square outdoor rink in Downtown from November 25th-December 6th, Monday through Fridays 4:00 - 8:00 pm, Saturdays 10:00 am to 9:00 pm. and Sundays Noon - 7:00 pm. If you like caroling then Plainfield is the place to be. Plainfield Library Family Christmas Caroling has an evening of singing and child friendly games followed by cookie decorating and eating. Registration is required for this event. Call 838-3801 or visit www.plainfieldlibrary.net.

The biggest winter event is the Holiday Open House and Rural Routes to Main Street Cultural Trail. This will definitely get you in the holiday spirit and you can purchase items for the people on your Christmas list. The open houses run from Thursday December 8th - Saturday December 10th. This self directed driving tour lets you choose the places in Hendricks County and includes art studios, galleries, workshops and special events as you travel along scenic county roads. Wine Taste at Chateau Thomas Winery, buy holiday desserts at Bread Basket Cafe in Daville, and see glass artwork in Clayton at Hot Blown Glass, Ltd. and much more.
